Self-tuning

Self-thinning is a natural process where some trees die as a result of competition for light, water, and nutrients. This phenomenon occurs in dense stands and helps to reduce the density of trees, allowing remaining trees more resources to grow. Self-thinning can be mimicked in forestry through active thinning.
