FeltGIS and MEF Skog collaborate for the future of digital forestry
Sep 26, 2024
FeltGIS AS and MEF Skog have created a new and forward-looking agreement for the exchange of data produced by forestry machines. The agreement applies to those who use FeltGIS's service "Digital Forestry for the Forestry Contractor" and will be revised annually.
The collaboration ensures the development of a standard for data exchange, which will benefit all actors in the forestry sector. The standard is designed with consideration for the forestry contractors, their interests, ownership, and control over their own data. This lays the groundwork for innovative and improved services and processes in today's modern forestry, while also meeting the ever-increasing demands for sustainability and the environment, both now and in the future.
"The negotiated agreement allows contractors to send over forestry machine data that our clients request while ensuring that contractors have control over which data will be transferred and which data will not be transferred."
Bjørn Lauritzen from MEF Skog
FeltGIS is known for providing user-friendly digital solutions for forestry contractors and timber traders, supported by powerful interactive mapping services. This simplifies the planning and execution of logging and forestry culture assignments, making the work both easier and more efficient. At the same time, these solutions help fulfill the industry's environmental responsibility. Thus, FeltGIS continues to be a driver for innovation in forestry, and the agreement with MEF Skog is just the beginning of their joint commitment to strengthening the industry.
Which forestry machine data and with whom it can be shared, is managed under settings in the app FeltLogg.
